The PsA Screening Project with Dr.Jan Dutz: Which Tool Should I Use?!

Episode Summary

If someone asked you on a gameshow with a $1 million prize which validated screening tool is the best for detecting psoriatic arthritis what would you say? Research demonstrates that up to 30% of patients with psoriasis go on to develop psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and strategies for early detection are critical to halt progression. Given this context, several different validated screening tools have been identified to predict whether a person with psoriasis may go on to develop psoriatic arthritis. Despite this why are some patients delayed in their diagnosis? Patients are as likely to associate ice cream with pickles as they are to associate arthritis with psoriasis. How can we start thinking more of a peanut butter and jelly or cookies and milk type of association or relationship? It remains unclear and no pun intended. And the jury is still out, which validated PSA screening tool is the best. Dr.Jan Dutz puts on the boxing gloves and enter the studio ring to weigh in on this debates. He also shares an innovative project in the space he's working on and also lends some secrets that you really can only really get alongside working with Dr.Dutz (or listening to this episode) into the patient journey and the screening relationship between dermatologists and rheumatologists.
